Lithium battery recycling and processing equipment: turning retired batteries into high-value resources

2026-09-08

With the rapid development of new energy vehicles, energy storage systems, and consumer electronics products, a large number of retired lithium-ion batteries are gradually entering the scrap cycle. If not handled properly, it will not only cause serious waste of key resources, but also bring environmental and safety hazards. To this end, our company has launched a complete set of lithium battery recycling and processing production lines, integrating “safety, high purity, and high recovery rate” into one.

Lithium battery recycling

Our lithium battery recycling production line covers the complete process from waste batteries to high-value materials. The front section adopts a sealed single axis shredder with nitrogen protection, which safely crushes the battery into small particles under the condition of isolating oxygen, effectively avoiding the risk of combustion or explosion caused by residual electrolyte; Subsequently, the materials enter the electric heating pyrolysis furnace to fully decompose organic components such as electrolyte and membrane. The resulting exhaust gas is treated by the tail gas purification system (spray tower+activated carbon+catalytic combustion) and discharged in compliance with environmental standards, ensuring environmental compliance.

After pyrolysis treatment, it is further subjected to multi-stage precision sorting such as magnetic separation, airflow separation, and drum screening, ultimately producing various products such as high-purity black powder (black matter), copper particles, aluminum particles, plastics, and steel shells.

The core value of lithium battery recycling lies in black powder, which is rich in rare metals such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel. Relying on multi-stage precision sorting and ultrafine grinding technology, our system’s black powder purity can reach over 98%, aluminum content is stably controlled below 0.5%, and overall material recovery rate exceeds 99%, providing high-quality raw materials for downstream wet metallurgy or pyrometallurgy.

The equipment can handle various forms of cylindrical batteries (18650, 21700, 32650), soft pack batteries, and square hard shell batteries, covering various chemical systems such as lithium iron phosphate (LFP), nickel cobalt manganese/nickel cobalt aluminum (NMC/NCA), lithium cobalt oxide (LCO), etc. From consumer small batteries to large power battery packs and energy storage systems, one production line can handle all of them.

By converting waste batteries into reusable resources, our recycling program not only achieves closed-loop resource recycling, but also helps customers reduce raw material procurement costs and meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations.
