How to recycle waste photovoltaic panels?

2025-07-06

Waste photovoltaic panels are not worthless waste; they contain a wealth of resources. Currently, a large number of scrapped panels are not effectively recycled, but rather randomly dumped or disposed of, a significant waste of resources. Even more regrettable, many photovoltaic panel manufacturers lack proactive awareness and policy support, resulting in a relatively slow development of recycling systems for scrapped panels. However, you may be curious about how these scrapped panels are actually recycled.

A typical photovoltaic panel is primarily composed of glass, silicone sheets, aluminum frames, and batteries, all of which can be reused. Scraped photovoltaic panels are sorted and disassembled. The waste photovoltaic panel processing process: Scrapped panels are shredded in a shredder. The shredded material then enters a specialized crusher, breaking up the EVA film and monocrystalline silicon wafers. The shredded material is then fed into a collector via an induced draft fan, where it undergoes sorting to separate the silicon. The remaining mixed material then enters a specialized pulverizer, passes through an air lock, and enters an airflow separator. Airflow and vibration combine to collect positive metals and plastics, while also collecting the dust generated by the separator.

We should enhance environmental awareness, promote green production concepts, and reduce photovoltaic panel waste at the source. Only through effective recycling can we truly realize the environmental friendliness and sustainability of photovoltaic power generation.
